I spent a day shooting a gorgeous wedding in October 2016 at the well known and beautiful Styal Lodge and thought I would share how my day went as a photographer but also how amazing they were at organising and holding your wedding day!
When I arrived it was in the countryside and set back from any main roads and within a golf course with its vast grounds and greenery and also with plenty of parking for your guests.
The lodge itself is great looking from the outside with the its lush sandy coloured beams and glass doors and when you walk in your pleasantly surprised by how big enough it is to accommodate your guests and wedding but also how cosy and intimate it feels!
There is also a room set to the side for you to get ready in the morning with lots of space and all the necessities for hair and make up, shower, toilet, docking station for music and sofas to lounge in, this was great not only for a photographer so that the background in your images looked great but also so that the Bride did not even have to go outside once she was ready and could take her time in getting ready and not having to move from place to place which meant bridal prep was so relaxed!
The other fantastic thing about Styal Lodge was the way they transitioned between your ceremony to the reception then to the evening it was so flawless and without intruding on your special day, it was almost a magical illusion and also meaning that your day ran so smoothly as the tables and decorations were already set up ready to go before the bride had even got her make up on, also meaning a dream for us photographers as we can just grab the room shots and details well before the day has started and meaning even more time later on for those important natural, candid shots of your guests and portraits, again allowing the day to run extremely smoothly.
The grounds at the back of the lodge are gorgeous with an outside bar to enjoy champagne and drinks with your guests when the sun is shining and a great backdrop for your family portraits, the other fantastic thing is the fact you get to ride on a golf buggy to the jetty to have your romantic portraits which is also great for you guys as its quality, quiet, alone time away from your guests for half an hour without any distractions and gives you both time to reflect on your day together and the jetty looks gorgeous in photos it’s the perfect little quiet spot!
Styal Lodge were extremely accommodating to myself and the videographer and helpful with anything we needed to ensure we got the shots we needed, even lending some very high step ladders to capture the big group shot!
If your looking for a fuss free day that runs smoothly, efficiently and also has the rustic looks then I highly recommend Styal Lodge, you wont be disappointed!
